Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, was warmly welcomed to the United States by Congress Overseas Chief Sam Pitroda. Pitroda described Gandhi as a “voice for the youth, for democracy, and for a better future.”
In a post on X, Pitroda expressed, “Welcome to the USA, Rahul Gandhi! A voice for the youth, for democracy, and for a better future. Let’s listen, learn, and build together.”
Gandhi arrived at Boston Logan International Airport on Saturday, and during his visit, he is scheduled to visit Brown University in Rhode Island, where he will engage with faculty members and students. He is also expected to meet with members of the NRI community and Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) leaders.
Congress leader Pawan Khera announced that Gandhi will give a talk and interact with students and faculty at Brown University on April 21 and 22.
This marks Gandhi’s second visit to the US in recent months. His previous visit in September 2024 saw him interact with students and faculty in Dallas and Washington, D.C. This visit also stirred political debates, particularly around his remarks about the need for a caste census and scrapping the reservation system in India once the country becomes “fair.” He emphasized that 90% of India’s population, including OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis, lacks adequate representation, which he termed as the “elephant in the room.”
