Tel Aviv [Israel], March 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed the elimination of the top command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, including its commander and the head of its intelligence division.
In a video statement shared on X, Netanyahu emphasized the continuation of military operations, stating, “We continue to forcefully strike the targets of the Iranian terrorist regime.”
Highlighting the significance of the operation, he said, “Last night, we eliminated the commander of the IRGC Navy. This man had a great deal of blood on his hands; he was also the one who led the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.”
“This is yet another example of the cooperation between us and our friend, the United States, toward the common goal of achieving the objectives of the war,” he added.
In a separate post on X, the IDF said the Israeli Air Force, acting on precise intelligence from Military Intelligence and the Navy’s Intelligence Branch, conducted an overnight strike in Bandar Abbas, killing Ali Reza Tangsiri, who had served as commander of the IRGC Navy for the past eight years.
According to the IDF, Tangsiri played a central role in overseeing maritime operations and coordinating Iranian military activities in the Gulf region.
The military said he was responsible for attacks on oil tankers and merchant vessels and had directly threatened freedom of navigation and trade in the Strait of Hormuz and the broader international maritime domain.
The IDF also accused Tangsiri of leading efforts to close the Strait of Hormuz and promoting maritime operations that disrupted the global economy.
Alongside Tangsiri, the IDF confirmed the killing of Hanam Rezaei, head of the IRGC Navy’s Intelligence Division.
Rezaei was described as a key figure in maritime intelligence, involved in gathering intelligence on regional countries and coordinating with multiple intelligence organizations.
The IDF said the operation is part of a broader series of targeted strikes against Iranian military leadership, calling it a significant blow to the IRGC’s command and control systems and its operational capabilities in the maritime domain. (ANI)
