The sixth edition of the World Environment Expo (WEE 2025) was officially inaugurated on Wednesday at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida. Delhi Minister for Industries, Food and Supplies, and Environment, Forest and Wildlife, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, presided over the event alongside prominent policymakers, sustainability experts, and global industry leaders.
The three-day exhibition and conference aims to advance environmental technologies, clean energy solutions, waste management, and sustainable development. Jointly organized by the Green Society of India and Indian Exhibition Services (IES), with support from key government ministries and trade bodies, WEE 2025 hosts over 200 exhibitors and attracts more than 15,000 business visitors from across India and internationally.
Swadesh Kumar, Director of Indian Exhibition Services, emphasized the urgency of a unified climate action approach. “The World Environment Expo has grown into India’s largest gathering for environmental innovation and clean technology. This platform fosters collaboration between industries, institutions, and governments to accelerate sustainability goals,” he said.
This year, WEE features dedicated zones such as Biofuel Expo 2025 and Biodegradable Expo 2025, spotlighting India’s transition to green energy and eco-friendly alternatives. International participants from Germany, the US, Japan, France, the UK, Australia, and the Netherlands bring global expertise and innovations.
The event includes knowledge-sharing sessions, buyer-seller meetings, and networking opportunities with public sector units, municipal corporations, private sector leaders, NGOs, and environmental institutions. Over 100 mayors and municipal representatives from across India are attending, reinforcing the expo’s role in fostering policy dialogue and grassroots environmental action.
In parallel, the World Environment Conference (WEC 2025) was inaugurated under the theme “Save Nature – Save Future,” convening over 2,000 stakeholders including government officials, industrialists, researchers, and environmental advocates. The conference discussions focus on climate change mitigation, carbon emission reduction, green infrastructure, smart city development, and policy frameworks to build climate resilience.
A special highlight of the event was the felicitation of Acharya Prashant, renowned philosopher and environmental thought leader, who was awarded the ‘Most Impactful Environmentalist’ by the Green Society of India.
