Washington, US, April 13, 2025 — YouTube has unveiled a new AI-powered tool designed to help creators generate free background music for their videos, effectively bypassing copyright claims.
The Music Assistant tool, demonstrated on the Creator Insider channel, allows users to input prompts such as “uplifting and motivational music for a workout montage.” In response, the AI generates multiple tracks that creators can review and download. This feature, which is part of YouTube’s Creator Music beta section, provides an easy way for creators to enhance their videos with music that suits the tone and style of their content.
The tool is currently being rolled out gradually to users with access to the Creator Music section. It joins a growing list of AI-powered music-generation tools developed by other companies, including Stability AI and Meta, which have created similar tools to generate background audio and synthesize sounds based on user prompts.
In addition to the Music Assistant, YouTube has experimented with other AI music generation features, such as a music remixer that lets users “restyle” popular songs for Shorts and Dream Track, a tool that allows users to hum songs and transform them into full tracks in the style of participating artists. This move marks another step in YouTube’s efforts to empower creators with AI-driven tools to enhance their content creation process.
