New Delhi [India], March 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again emerged as the most popular democratic leader globally, securing the top spot with an approval rating of 68 percent, according to a recent global survey conducted by U.S.-based data analytics firm Morning Consult.
The data, part of the “Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker,” highlights Modi’s sustained domestic popularity and growing international recognition, placing him significantly ahead of leaders of other major economies.
The survey ranked Switzerland’s President Guy Parmelin and South Korea’s President Lee Jae-myung in second place, both with approval ratings of 62 percent. The latest figures are based on data collected between March 2 and March 8, 2026, and reflect a trailing seven-day simple moving average of views among adults in each country surveyed.
The tracker also shows a notable gap between Modi and several Western leaders. U.S. President Donald Trump holds an approval rating of 39 percent, while U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer stands at 24 percent.
Further down the list, French President Emmanuel Macron is among the lowest-ranked leaders, with an approval rating of 17 percent and a disapproval rating of 75 percent.
Morning Consult noted that Modi’s net approval remains significantly higher than that of most other leaders, with only 26 percent of respondents expressing disapproval.
This sustained lead follows a previous report from July 2025, which also placed Modi at the top with a 75 percent approval rating.
In that earlier survey, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung ranked second with a 59 percent approval rating, while Argentine President Javier Milei was third with 57 percent. In comparison, U.S. President Donald Trump, who returned to office last year, ranked eighth with a 44 percent approval rating.
Prime Minister Modi, who began his third consecutive term in May 2024, continues to hold the top position as his tenure reaches a significant milestone. He has now completed 4,079 days in office, surpassing Indira Gandhi to become the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of India in an uninterrupted term.
With this milestone, Modi now trails only India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, in terms of continuous time served in office. (ANI)
