New Delhi [India], March 25 (ANI): Shibu Khan, a native of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who was stranded in Qatar without his passport or other legal documents, has safely returned to India with assistance from the Embassy of India in Doha.
Khan faced a challenging situation after losing access to essential travel documents, which prevented him from contacting his employer or arranging his return. The situation was further complicated by regional tensions, leaving his family increasingly anxious amid reports of Iranian attacks in Qatar. “I would like to thank my government and the people of the embassy here in Doha for providing help swiftly. I can go home because of them,” Khan said in a self-made video.
With no valid identification, Khan encountered significant hurdles navigating local systems and securing safe passage. In response, the Embassy of India in Doha provided timely support, facilitating the issuance of an Emergency Certificate that allowed him to travel without a passport. The mission also offered minor financial assistance and arranged his flight back to India amid the ongoing regional crisis.
The coordinated efforts of the Indian mission ensured Khan’s safe return, providing relief to his family, who had closely monitored developments. Upon arrival in India, Khan expressed gratitude for the embassy’s prompt intervention and support during a period of uncertainty.
His safe return underscores the crucial role played by Indian missions abroad in assisting nationals facing distress, particularly during emergencies and geopolitical tensions, highlighting the importance of consular support mechanisms in safeguarding the interests of Indian citizens overseas.
