Washington, DC [US], April 20 (ANI): US President Donald Trump on Monday reiterated his hardline stance against Iran while dismissing mainstream media narratives surrounding his foreign policy approach.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said his position on Iran was shaped by the “results of October 7th” and a long-held personal conviction, rather than external pressure from allies.
“Israel never talked me into the war with Iran. The results of Oct. 7th, added to my lifelong opinion that IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” Trump said.
Turning to media coverage and polling, Trump criticized what he described as biased reporting and inaccurate public opinion data. He drew comparisons between current polling and his claims about the 2020 US presidential election, as well as recent elections in Venezuela.
“I watch and read the fake news pundits and polls in total disbelief. Ninety percent of what they say are lies and made-up stories, and the polls are rigged,” he said, adding that Iran could have a “great and prosperous future” under new leadership.
Trump also appeared to endorse the idea of regime change in Tehran, stating that “if Iran’s new leaders are smart,” the country could prosper.
The remarks come as tensions remain high ahead of the expiration of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran on April 22. Ongoing negotiations have been marked by disagreements over Iran’s nuclear program and control of the Strait of Hormuz.

The situation remains fluid as both sides weigh diplomatic options against the risk of renewed conflict following the ceasefire deadline. (ANI)
