NEW DELHI, May 12 (ANI) — The entity[“organization”,”Central Bureau of Investigation”,”India”] on Tuesday registered a First Information Report in connection with alleged irregularities and a paper leak in the conduct of the entity[“event”,”NEET-UG 2026″,”National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate 2026″] examination.
The case has been registered under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
According to officials, the FIR was filed based on a written complaint received from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education.
The FIR includes charges related to criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, theft, and destruction of evidence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with offenses under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act.
The CBI said special investigation teams have been formed and dispatched to multiple locations to carry out the probe.
Earlier Tuesday, the central government canceled the NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3, citing concerns regarding the integrity and transparency of the examination process.
The government also announced that the examination would be conducted again at a later date.
The entity[“organization”,”National Testing Agency”,”India”] said the decision was taken following inputs from central agencies that raised concerns about irregularities in the conduct of the examination. (ANI)
