MOSCOW, May 19 (ANI): Russian President Vladimir Putin said he is looking forward to his visit to Beijing, expressing confidence in further deepening cooperation with China that he said would benefit both nations.
In a video message shared by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Putin addressed the Chinese public, highlighting long-standing friendly ties and stating that regular high-level visits strengthen bilateral relations.
“I am delighted to be visiting Beijing once again at the invitation of my long-time good friend, the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping. Regular mutual visits and Russia-China top-level talks are an important and integral part of our joint efforts to promote the entire range of relations between our two countries and unlock their truly limitless potential,” he said.
Describing the partnership between the two countries, Putin said Russia-China relations have reached an “unprecedented level,” marked by mutual trust, cooperation and coordinated positions on key international issues.
He said both countries continue to support each other on matters related to sovereignty, state unity and core national interests.
Putin added that cooperation between Moscow and Beijing is expanding across politics, the economy, defence and humanitarian exchanges, with increasing people-to-people contact.
“It means that together we are doing everything that can further deepen bilateral collaboration and advance the comprehensive development of our countries. It is important that these are the issues that will shape the agenda of the upcoming talks in Beijing,” he said.
Speaking on economic ties, Putin noted that bilateral trade has surpassed USD 200 billion, with settlements now conducted largely in rubles and yuan. He also highlighted ongoing joint initiatives in education and cultural exchange programs between the two countries.
He said the strategic relationship between Russia and China plays a stabilizing role globally and emphasized that both countries seek peaceful development without opposing any third party.
“We seek peace and universal prosperity. It is in this spirit that Moscow and Beijing act in a coordinated manner to defend international law and the provisions of the UN Charter,” he said.
“I am confident that together we will continue to do everything possible to deepen Russia-China partnership and good-neighbourliness for our countries’ dynamic development and for the well-being of our peoples,” he added.
Putin is scheduled to visit China from May 19–20 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, a key framework guiding bilateral ties.
