SEOUL, South Korea, May 19 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in South Korea on Tuesday, beginning the second leg of his two-nation diplomatic tour spanning May 18 to May 21.
Upon arrival in Seoul, he was received by India’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Gourangalal Das along with senior officials.
Singh’s visit follows his official engagements in Vietnam on May 18–19, after which he traveled to South Korea to continue the tour aimed at strengthening defence and strategic cooperation across the Indo-Pacific.
In a post on X, Singh said the visit would focus on deepening strategic military cooperation, enhancing defence industrial partnerships, and boosting maritime collaboration to promote peace and stability in the region.
During his stay in Seoul, he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with South Korean Defence Minister Ahn Gyu-back to discuss regional security and shared defence challenges.
He will also meet Lee Yong-cheol, Minister of the Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), and chair the India–Korea business roundtable focused on expanding defence industrial cooperation and investment opportunities.
The visit is part of India’s broader effort to expand strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific, aligning with the country’s Act East Policy and South Korea’s Indo-Pacific strategy.
The tour will conclude with the co-inauguration of an Indian War Memorial on May 21, honoring Indian Army personnel who served in the Korean War, including members of the 60 Parachute Field Ambulance unit and the Custodian Force of India.
