KABUL, June 10 (ANI) — The Taliban government in Kabul on Wednesday said that overnight air strikes carried out by Pakistani forces inside Afghanistan killed at least 13 people and injured 14 others.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said Pakistan violated Afghan airspace and carried out strikes on civilian homes in the provinces of Kunar, Khost, and Paktika during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to Mujahid, those killed included 11 children, one woman, and one elderly man. He added that 14 women were injured in the attacks and shared photographs that he said documented the casualties.
The latest incident comes amid continued tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan and follows a series of cross-border military operations over the past year.
According to Taliban authorities, Pakistani military actions inside Afghanistan have resulted in significant casualties and heightened instability in border regions.
The Taliban also cited a March attack that it said targeted a rehabilitation center in Kabul and resulted in hundreds of deaths.
Relations between the two neighboring countries have deteriorated sharply since late 2025, when Pakistan carried out a series of air strikes inside Afghanistan, including in and around Kabul, according to Taliban officials.
The ongoing hostilities have contributed to civilian displacement, with thousands of residents reportedly forced to flee their homes amid repeated rounds of violence.
Pakistan has maintained that its security concerns stem from militant activity along the border and has accused the Taliban of providing sanctuary to groups such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Taliban authorities have rejected those allegations.
The worsening relationship marks a significant shift from Pakistan’s longstanding ties with the Taliban, which governed Afghanistan after returning to power in 2021. (ANI)
