WASHINGTON, June 11 (ANI) — US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Wednesday that American forces have launched additional self-defense strikes against multiple targets in Iran.
CENTCOM stated that the operation was carried out in response to what it described as continued and “unwarranted” Iranian aggression.
In a post on X, the command said, “U.S. Central Command forces began launching additional self-defense strikes today at 5:15 p.m. ET against multiple targets in Iran at the Commander in Chief’s direction. The strikes are in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s Red Crescent has placed all emergency operations centers across the country on full alert amid reports of explosions in several cities, according to Al Jazeera.
Citing Iran’s Mehr News Agency, Al Jazeera reported fresh explosions in the port city of Bandar Abbas, with the blasts linked to an incident in the eastern part of the city.
Additional explosions were reported in several other locations, including the southern towns of Sirik and Minab, Qeshm Island, and the northern city of Gorgan.
Air defense systems were also activated in western Tehran, according to Iranian media reports cited by Al Jazeera.
An explosion was reported in Fars province in southwestern Iran and was attributed to the activation of air defense systems outside the city.
The situation remains fluid, with emergency response agencies across Iran on heightened alert.
According to Press TV, Iraqi media reports claimed that Iran launched a missile strike targeting the US Al-Harir Air Base in Erbil, allegedly destroying a US radar system in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
The latest military action comes after President Donald Trump indicated that the United States would continue attacks on Iran, expressing frustration over what he described as delays by Tehran in concluding a deal with Washington.
Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump said, “We’re going to be attacking them, attacking them very hard.”
Trump also suggested that Iran’s downing of a US Apache helicopter justified renewed military action.
“Based on the helicopter, I guess we have the right to do that,” he told reporters. (ANI)
