California [US], July 9 (ANI): Google has begun rolling out its much-anticipated ‘AI Mode’ in Search to users across India, CEO Sundar Pichai announced on Tuesday, following what he described as an “incredible response” to the feature during its testing phase in Labs.
In a post on X, Pichai wrote: “After an incredible response in Labs, we’re starting to roll out AI Mode in Search to everyone in India (English to start). It’s a total reimagining of Search, and we’re excited for even more people to use it.”
The feature, which brings Google’s most advanced AI-powered search experience to everyday users, is designed to make it easier to ask questions, get richer answers, and explore topics more deeply.
Hema Budaraju, Google’s Vice President of Product Management for Search, detailed the rollout in a blog post on Monday. She said the company introduced AI Mode in India as a Labs experiment in June and received encouraging feedback from early users.
“In June, we first introduced AI Mode, our most powerful AI search, in India as an experiment in Labs. The response has been encouraging, with people appreciating its speed and the quality of the responses. We’ve seen users putting it to work in diverse ways — from diving deep into topics for learning to understanding complex how-tos,” Budaraju wrote.
She announced that AI Mode in Search is now being rolled out without the need for a Labs sign-up. Over the coming days, users in India will see a new AI Mode tab appear in Search and in the search bar of the Google app, starting in English.
“We’re now starting to roll out the AI Mode experience in Google Search, with no Labs sign-up required. Over the coming days, you’ll see a new tab for AI Mode appear in Search and in the search bar in the Google app,” Budaraju said.
Users can access AI Mode by typing, using voice, or snapping a photo with Google Lens. The feature provides rich, comprehensive AI-powered answers, complete with helpful links and the option to ask follow-up questions for deeper exploration.
“We are excited to see how this end-to-end AI search experience helps you explore your curiosity and understand the world around you,” Budaraju added.
