Jalpaiguri (West Bengal) [India], August 5 (ANI): The Border Security Force (BSF) of Fulbari, under the Siliguri Sector and North Bengal Frontier, on Tuesday apprehended a Bangladeshi national from Rangpur for attempting to illegally cross the international border into India.
According to an official release, the individual was caught while trying to enter Indian territory by hiding beneath a Bhutan-registered truck entering India from Bangladesh.
At approximately 10:10 AM, BSF troops stationed at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) intercepted the individual along with the truck driver. The driver has been detained, and the truck has been seized. Authorities have launched a further investigation into the incident.
Earlier this week, BSF personnel foiled multiple cross-border smuggling attempts along the Punjab border. In Tarn Taran, BSF troops apprehended two narco-smugglers and recovered several drones and heroin consignments in separate incidents.
In one such case on Sunday morning, BSF troops launched a search operation following the detection of drone movement near the village of Kalsian in Tarn Taran. Two smugglers were found hiding in a paddy field, and, based on their disclosure, troops recovered a heroin packet weighing 610 grams from an adjacent irrigated field. The packet was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, suggesting it had been dropped via drone.
In a separate operation on Saturday, acting on specific intelligence input, BSF troops recovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone from a farm field near the village of Barreke in Punjab’s Ferozepur district.
