New Delhi [India], August 6 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday met with a delegation of young political leaders from Nepal, reaffirming the close cooperation and strong people-to-people ties that underpin the India-Nepal relationship.
In a post on X, Jaishankar stated, “Pleased to interact with a delegation of young political leaders from Nepal on a visit to India. Discussed our close cooperation and deep people-to-people linkages.”
The delegation is part of the third cohort of the Observer Research Foundation’s (ORF) ‘Nepal Young Leaders’ programme and will be in India from August 4 to August 12. The initiative aims to give emerging Nepalese leaders exposure to India’s political, economic, and social landscape and to foster deeper engagement with Indian policymakers, civil society, and institutions.
On Tuesday, the Nepal Embassy in India welcomed the visiting delegates, which included Members of Parliament and leaders from various political parties. “The Embassy welcomed the visiting delegation of Hon. Members of Parliament and leaders of political parties and held an interaction with them,” the embassy wrote in a post on X.
The India-Nepal relationship has seen steady progress over the past two decades, with cooperation deepening across key sectors such as trade, investment, energy, and cultural exchange. Regular high-level interactions have helped both countries address bilateral concerns constructively and maintain a forward-looking approach.
ORF highlighted that the programme offers young Nepalese leaders a platform to explore India’s ongoing transformations and connect with influential figures and organizations across the spectrum. “As the India-Nepal relationship has witnessed steady growth over the past two decades, advancing across key pillars of bilateral cooperation… this initiative aims to provide a platform for emerging Nepal leaders to gain insights into India’s ongoing transformations, engage with Indian policymakers and civil society, and expand their networks,” ORF stated in a post on X.
The initiative is expected to further enhance mutual understanding and collaboration between the two neighboring nations, contributing to regional stability and development.
