BRUSSELS, Belgium, November 23 (ANI/WAM): World leaders participating in the 2025 G20 Johannesburg Summit have welcomed the continued efforts of the United States to advance peace in Ukraine.
The leaders noted that the initial draft of the 28-point peace plan contains significant elements essential for achieving a just and lasting resolution. In a joint statement issued by the European Council, they said the draft “is a basis which will require additional work,” adding that they are prepared to engage further to ensure any future peace agreement is sustainable.
The statement underscored the leaders’ firm position that international borders must not be altered by force. It also expressed concern about proposed limits on Ukraine’s armed forces, cautioning that such measures could leave the country vulnerable to future aggression.
The leaders emphasized that the implementation of provisions related to the European Union and NATO would require the consent of their respective member states.
Reaffirming their commitment, they said, “We take this opportunity to underline the strength of our continued support to Ukraine. We will continue to coordinate closely with Ukraine and the US over the coming days.”
