New Delhi [India], January 10 (ANI): German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz is scheduled to arrive at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on January 12, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Following his arrival, Merz will visit the Sabarmati Ashram and participate in the Kite Festival. He is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and issue press statements at Mahatma Mandir. The Chancellor will additionally visit the Dandi Kutir.
On January 13, Merz will visit Bosch, followed by engagements at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE), before departing for Germany. Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merz had earlier met on November 22 on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.
During the visit, the two leaders will review progress in the India-Germany Strategic Partnership, which recently completed 25 years. Discussions will focus on further strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, technology, education, skilling, and mobility, as well as advancing collaboration in defense and security, science, innovation and research, green and sustainable development, and people-to-people ties.
Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merz will also exchange views on regional and global issues and engage with business and industry leaders from both countries.
The visit is expected to build on the momentum generated by regular high-level political interactions and provide an opportunity to reaffirm the shared vision of India and Germany for a forward-looking partnership that benefits both nations and the wider global community.
Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merz last held discussions on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada, where they agreed to further broaden the bilateral strategic partnership.
