NEW DELHI, January 13 (ANI): Ukraine’s Ambassador to India, Oleksandr Polishchuk, said he expects a joint commission meeting between the governments of India and Ukraine. He noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has agreed to visit India soon.
“I expected that the agreement which we reached when the honorable Prime Minister visited Kyiv—he actually met President Zelenskyy and they agreed that President Zelenskyy will come to India. So I’m looking forward to that. It will be a great opportunity, not only for a high-level official visit like the Prime Minister’s, who was the first prime minister to visit independent Ukraine since 1991,” Polishchuk said.
He added that it was brave of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Ukraine during wartime. “We need to take into account that he did it very bravely because it’s wartime in Ukraine, and he was actually one of the only leaders who decided to come in from the south. We expect to have a joint commission meeting, which is an intergovernmental committee, where we will have the opportunity to discuss in more detail business opportunities—not only in tourism, but also in pharmaceuticals, industry, port development, and more, like those initiatives in Gujarat,” he said.
Polishchuk further expressed appreciation for the beauty of Gujarat. “I actually came here as part of a program organized by the government of Gujarat, and we very much appreciate what you did to showcase the beauty of Gujarat and provide the opportunity to hold the biggest economic forum in South Asia, where we can discuss all bilateral cooperation issues,” he said.
He also highlighted his visit to Dwarka. “Dwarka is very famous for the temple of Lord Krishna. We really enjoyed visiting the temple. We pray for peace in Ukraine because it’s very important for us to live in a peaceful country,” Polishchuk added.
