Washington DC [US], May 15 (ANI): US President Donald Trump has announced a series of landmark agreements with Qatar worth over USD 243.5 billion, forming part of a broader economic partnership valued at at least USD 1.2 trillion. The agreements, signed during Trump’s visit to Qatar, span various sectors, including aviation, energy, defense, and quantum technology.

The White House stated on Wednesday, “Today in Qatar, President Donald J. Trump signed an agreement with Qatar to generate an economic exchange worth at least USD 1.2 trillion. President Trump also announced economic deals totalling more than USD 243.5 billion between the United States and Qatar, including a historic sale of Boeing aircraft and GE Aerospace engines to Qatar Airways.”

One of the key highlights is a record-breaking deal between Boeing-GE Aerospace and Qatar Airways, marking Boeing’s largest-ever widebody order. Qatar Airways will acquire up to 210 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft, powered by GE Aerospace engines, in a USD 96 billion agreement. This deal is projected to support over 1 million US jobs throughout its duration.

Additionally, Qatar will invest up to USD 1 billion in cutting-edge quantum technologies and workforce development in collaboration with the United States. This investment aims to foster innovation and technological leadership while supporting jobs in both countries.

In defense, Raytheon, an RTX business, secured a USD 1 billion agreement for Qatar’s procurement of counter-drone capabilities, marking Qatar as the first international customer for Raytheon’s Fixed Site – Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aerial System Integrated Defeat System (FS-LIDS). General Atomics also secured a USD 2 billion deal to supply Qatar with the MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft system, enhancing the bilateral security relationship.

Moreover, the United States and Qatar signed a statement of intent to strengthen their security partnership, including investments worth over USD 38 billion in areas such as air defense, maritime security, and burden-sharing at Al Udeid Air Base.

President Trump emphasized that these agreements are designed to drive innovation, bolster American manufacturing, and strengthen strategic cooperation between Washington and Doha. The deals are expected to create thousands of high-skilled jobs and further solidify the US-Qatar commercial relationship over the next decade.

President Trump’s visit to Qatar forms part of his four-day Gulf tour, with previous stops in Saudi Arabia and upcoming meetings in the UAE. (ANI)
