
New Delhi [India], September 11 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday praised the neutralisation of 10 Naxalites in Chhattisgarh during a joint operation by CRPF’s Cobra commandos, Chhattisgarh Police, and the District Reserve Guard (DRG). He reaffirmed the Union Government’s commitment to eradicate naxalism in Chhattisgarh by March 31, 2026, urging remaining Naxals to surrender.
“Our security forces have achieved another major success against the Naxalites today. In Chhattisgarh, CRPF’s Cobra commandos, Chhattisgarh Police, and DRG conducted a joint operation and eliminated 10 notorious Naxalites, including CCM Modem Balakrishna alias Manoj, who carried a bounty of ₹1 crore. The remaining Naxalites should surrender in time. The complete eradication of red terror is certain before March 31st,” Shah wrote on X.
Earlier, security forces neutralised 10 Naxals, including senior commander and Central Committee (CC) member Manoj alias Modem Balkrishna, during an encounter in Gariyaband district. Inspector General (IG) Raipur Range, Amresh Mishra, said intermittent exchanges of fire occurred during the operation, with a few Naxals likely dead. In a separate incident, one Naxal, a member of the PLGA Military Company 05 with a Rs 8 lakh bounty, was neutralised in the Kanker-Narayanpur border area, with a .303 rifle and walkie-talkie recovered from the site.
Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Sundarraj P, highlighted the dedication of security forces operating under difficult terrain and harsh conditions to protect life and property. He urged Maoist cadres to abandon violence and take advantage of the government’s rehabilitation policies, warning of severe consequences for those continuing illegal activities.
Recently, 30 Naxals surrendered and were rehabilitated in Bijapur district, a development praised by Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma. Speaking to ANI, Sharma said, “This is one of the largest numbers so far. It is the result of the Chhattisgarh government’s rehabilitation policy, the bravery of the jawans, and ongoing development work. We repeatedly appeal to the Naxalites to join the mainstream and improve their lives.” (ANI)
