Ontario [Canada], October 21 (ANI): Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, following her recent visit to India, said that both countries are engaging at the highest levels to ensure public safety and security. In an interview with CBS, Anand emphasized that public safety remains a top priority in bilateral discussions.
“We are at all times ensuring that public safety concerns are at the very top of the agenda. If you take a look at the joint statement between the two countries, the first page is in fact dedicated to the concerns relating to law enforcement,” Anand said. She noted that the ongoing policy-oriented dialogue with India is aimed at strengthening cooperation on public safety and law enforcement matters.
Anand highlighted that concerns of the Canadian government and public regarding safety have been raised at every stage. “There is an ongoing law enforcement dialogue between the two governments at the most senior levels,” she added. She cited the meeting between India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Canada’s National Security and Intelligence Adviser Nathalie G. Drouin on September 18 in New Delhi as a key example of collaborative efforts.
The visit was part of the regular bilateral security dialogue and followed discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Carney earlier this year during the G7 Summit. Anand also reiterated Canada’s commitment to elevating its partnership with India, highlighting public safety and economic relations as top priorities. (ANI)
