Explosion in palm springs

Washington DC [US], May 18 (ANI): An explosion, suspected to be an act of terrorism, has left one person dead and at least five injured outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, on Saturday, according to the New York Post. Authorities believe the blast was intentional and are actively investigating the incident.

The explosion took place outside the American Reproductive Centres and may have originated from a car parked nearby, as stated by Palm Springs Mayor Ron DeHarte. The blast, described by Fire Chief Paul Alvarado as “an intentional act of violence,” caused extensive damage, affecting several buildings over multiple blocks.

The identity of the deceased remains unconfirmed, and authorities are working to identify the victim. The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have joined the investigation.

US Attorney Bill Essayli of the Central District of California said the FBI would determine whether the explosion was a deliberate act. Additionally, US Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the attack, labeling violence against fertility clinics as “unforgivable.”

The fertility clinic, which provides services such as in vitro fertilization and egg transfers, was closed during the explosion. According to clinic operator Dr. Maher Abdallah, no patients were present, and stored embryos remained unharmed. All clinic staff members are reported safe.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and have urged the public to avoid the area as they search for any additional explosive devices. The explosion site is located near Desert Regional Hospital, though the clinic is not affiliated with the hospital. (ANI)
