New Delhi [India], April 5 (ANI): In a significant move to improve road infrastructure and ease congestion around the sacred town of Vrindavan, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday announced the approval of a 15.34-km, 6-lane access-controlled Vrindavan Bypass in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh.
The project, sanctioned at a cost of ₹1645.72 crore, will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) — a blend of public-private investment that accelerates project delivery while minimizing financial risk for the government.
“The Vrindavan Bypass will provide direct connectivity from NH-44 to the Yamuna Expressway and NH-530B, slashing travel time from 1.5 hours to just 15 minutes,” Gadkari said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Key Benefits of the Vrindavan Bypass Project:
- Direct Connectivity: Links NH-44, Yamuna Expressway, and NH-530B
- Reduced Congestion: Decongests the heavily trafficked pilgrimage routes in Vrindavan and Mathura
- Boost to Religious Tourism: Enhances accessibility to key religious destinations like Banke Bihari Temple and ISKCON Vrindavan
- Infrastructure Synergy: Integrates with state-proposed parking hubs, supporting smoother vehicular flow
- Industrial Impact: Improves access to industrial corridors, promoting regional development
Gadkari highlighted the project’s strategic importance not only in improving travel convenience but also in facilitating smoother logistics across North India’s pilgrimage and industrial belts.
Vision for World-Class Roads
This announcement aligns with Gadkari’s broader vision for India’s road infrastructure. Speaking earlier on March 25, he boldly stated:
“Within two years, India’s highway network will be better than that of the United States.”
He also projected that India would become a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) adoption and manufacturing within the next five years.
With projects like the Vrindavan Bypass, the Ministry aims to deliver a modern, efficient, and spiritually conscious transport network that blends economic growth with ease of living and pilgrimage.
