Tel Aviv [Israel], June 19 (ANI): Iran launched a ballistic missile that struck Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, southern Israel, the Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed on Thursday. The ministry said the hospital, which serves a diverse population including Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Arab Bedouins, was hit by an “indiscriminate” missile.
In a post on X, the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated, “Soroka Hospital in Beersheba—where Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Arab Bedouin receive care—was just hit by an indiscriminate Iranian ballistic missile. Israel will continue to do what must be done to protect all its people, from all walks of life.”
Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Sa’ar, condemned the strike, accusing Tehran of targeting civilians and committing war crimes. “The Iranian regime fired a ballistic missile at a hospital. The Iranian regime deliberately targets civilians. The Iranian regime is committing war crimes. The Iranian regime has no red lines,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry posted on X, “Amid the rubble caused by the Iranian regime’s missiles, we haven’t forgotten our hostages. Not for a single second. Let them go now,” in a cryptic reference that has sparked speculation about the country’s broader intentions amid the escalating hostilities.
In a significant retaliatory move, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the neutralization of Iran’s Arak nuclear reactor. In a statement on X, the IDF said, “This nuclear reactor in Arak was created for one purpose: to build a nuclear bomb. It has now been neutralized.”
At the scene of the missile strike in Beersheba, Israeli President Isaac Herzog called for a forceful response to safeguard the country’s future. “We will rebuild everything. That is a certainty. We will demonstrate resilience, and we will change our destiny—and the destiny of the entire region,” he told media representatives.
Herzog emphasized the hospital’s inclusive nature, noting that “Jews, Muslims, and people of all faiths work together and receive care side by side,” including Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza. “This is a demonstration of what the future can be,” he added, according to The Times of Israel.
