Former US President Biden Diagnosed with “Aggressive Form” of Prostate Cancer

Joe Biden Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer

Washington DC [US], May 19 (ANI): Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones, according to a statement from his office released on Sunday (local time).

The diagnosis followed the discovery of a prostate nodule after Biden reported worsening urinary symptoms. Medical tests confirmed a high-grade cancer with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating bone metastasis.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement read.

Despite the severity of the diagnosis, the cancer is reported to be hormone-sensitive, which may enable effective treatment.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” the statement further noted.

The 82-year-old Biden and his family are currently consulting with medical professionals to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

“The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, a new book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, titled “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again”, is set to be released on May 20. The book reportedly reveals internal concerns within Biden’s team about his physical decline during the latter part of his presidency.

Based on over 200 interviews, mostly with Democratic insiders following the 2024 election, the book alleges that Biden’s aides discussed the possibility of wheelchair use in a second term but avoided it during his reelection campaign for political reasons, according to CNN.

Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, reportedly cautioned that a fall could result in a challenging recovery, potentially necessitating a wheelchair. To minimize risks, the staff discreetly adjusted his mobility support, including shortening walking routes, adding handrails, and opting for smaller staircases when using Air Force One.

These adjustments increased as Biden’s physical challenges became more apparent, culminating in his underwhelming performance during the June 2024 debate against then-President Donald Trump, which led Biden to withdraw from the race weeks later. (ANI)
