Jammu and Kashmir [India], May 11 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant General (LG) Manoj Sinha paid his last respects to Rifleman Sunil Kumar, who was killed in the line of duty during shelling by Pakistan in the RS Pura sector. The last rites of Rifleman Sunil Kumar were performed with full military honours, with LG Manoj Sinha offering a wreath and paying tribute to the fallen soldier.

Earlier in the day, LG Manoj Sinha had also paid his respects to BSF Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz, who lost his life in cross-border firing by Pakistan along the International Boundary in the RS Pura sector. The LG honoured the late jawan’s sacrifice, extended condolences to his family, and prayed for their strength during this difficult time.

The Director General of the Border Security Force (DG BSF) and all ranks also paid tribute to BSF Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz, acknowledging his supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. “DG BSF and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice made by BSF Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz in service to the Nation on May 10, during cross-border firing by Pakistan along the International Boundary in the RS Pura area, Jammu. Prahari Pariwar stands firm with the bereaved family in this trying time,” the BSF said in a statement.

On Saturday, India stated that Pakistan had violated the understanding reached between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries regarding the cessation of firing and military action. The Indian Army is retaliating to address the ongoing border intrusions.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, during a special briefing, emphasized that India takes “very serious note of these violations” and has instructed the armed forces to respond firmly to any further breaches along the International Border and the Line of Control.

Misri called upon Pakistan to take responsible actions to maintain peace, noting that the Indian Armed Forces are maintaining a strong vigil and have been instructed to respond robustly to any further violations. (ANI)
