Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 17 (ANI): In a landmark move, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has approved the long-pending State Public Service Promotion Rules after a nine-year hiatus. The decision, taken during a cabinet meeting at Mantralaya in Bhopal on Tuesday, aims to uphold representation and safeguard the interests of reserved categories in state government services.
The newly approved provisions ensure 20 percent reservation for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 16 percent for Scheduled Castes (SC). Promotions for SC and ST public servants will be determined based on merit, as per the revised rules.
With the implementation of these promotion guidelines, an estimated two lakh posts are expected to fall vacant across various state government departments, paving the way for a large-scale recruitment drive.
Chief Minister Yadav took to social media platform X to announce the decision, writing, “Today, in the cabinet meeting, the matter of promotion of employees and officers of the state, which was pending for 9 years, was resolved. In this, the interests of employees and officers of all categories, including SC-ST, have been taken care of. Through this, after promotion, 2 lakh posts will be vacant in government services and there will be a possibility of fresh recruitment on these.”
In addition to the promotion rules, the cabinet approved several key development initiatives. Under the Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0 scheme, approval was granted for the establishment, construction, and operation of 459 new Anganwadi Centers in special tribal areas under the PM-JANMAN program. This includes the creation of 459 honorary posts for Anganwadi Workers, 459 posts for Helpers, and 26 regular supervisory positions. The total estimated expenditure for the scheme from FY 2025–26 to 2030–31 is Rs 143.46 crore, with Rs 72.78 crore as the Central share and Rs 70.68 crore from the State.
The Cabinet also approved Rs 5,163 crore in funding for ongoing and upcoming capital projects under the Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) for the period 2025–26 to 2029–30. The funding structure includes 20 percent equity from the state government and 80 percent as loans from financial institutions and banks.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers gave the green light for the establishment of District Treasuries in the newly formed districts of Pandhurna, Maihar, and Mauganj, strengthening administrative capabilities in these regions.
The decisions mark a significant push toward social equity, employment generation, and infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh. (ANI)
