
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], April 2 (ANI): Gujarat’s Mundra Port, India’s largest private port, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian port to handle over 200 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in a single financial year.
Record-Breaking Cargo Handling at Mundra Port
- Total cargo handled (FY 2024-25): 200.7 MMT
- Cargo processed in March 2025 alone: 41.5 MMT (highest-ever monthly cargo handling)
- Annual growth rate: 9%
- Major drivers of growth:
- Container cargo increased by 19%
- Liquid and gas shipments grew by 5%
Adani Ports’ Expanding Footprint
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) saw significant expansion across multiple locations:
- Total cargo handled across APSEZ (FY 2024-25): 450.2 MMT
- Container handling growth: +20%
- Liquid and gas cargo increase: +9%
- Rail volume growth: +8% (0.64 million TEUs)
- GPWIS (Grain & Petroleum Warehousing Infrastructure Services) volumes: 21.97 MMT (+9%)
Additionally, Vizhinjam Port (Kerala) crossed a milestone by handling over 100,000 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units).
