Pakistan: Paank Reports Surge in Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan, Calls for UN Intervention

Balochistan [Pakistan], July 3 (ANI): The Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), known as Paank, has documented a disturbing rise in enforced disappearances across Balochistan between July 1 and 2, reporting at least nine young Baloch men abducted during a series of coordinated raids by Pakistani security forces.

According to Paank, the latest wave began on the night of July 1, when Talal Baloch was forcibly taken from his home in Ward No. 2, Pasni, in Gwadar district. Armed personnel reportedly stormed the residence in military vehicles, seizing Talal without presenting a warrant or offering any explanation.

In the early hours of July 2, another young man, identified as Safyan, was abducted from the Singani Sar area of Turbat. Paank stated that uniformed forces carried out the raid, leaving his family with no information about his condition or whereabouts and no legal recourse.

The same day, four more youths — identified as Jasim, Malik, and Faisal and Raziq, both sons of Bijar Baloch — were apprehended and disappeared from the Khuda Bakhsh Chaat area in tehsil Mand, Kech district. Paank condemned these detentions as part of a broader campaign of ethnic repression and systematic targeting of Baloch youth.

In a related incident outside Balochistan, Paank reported that three young Baloch men — Juma Khan Mithwani Buzdar, Muhammad Khan Chakarani Buzdar, and Iftikar Chakarani Buzdar — were abducted on July 1 during a raid at a hotel in Taunsa, Punjab. The men were reportedly in Punjab for work-related reasons.

In a statement posted on social media, Paank denounced the series of abductions as “clear violations of international human rights laws” and evidence of a “systematic state policy aimed at silencing opposition and oppressing the Baloch youth.”

“These actions are unmistakable signs of a systematic state policy aimed at targeting Baloch youth and silencing opposition,” the statement read.

Paank has urged the United Nations and the international community to intervene urgently to advocate for the safe return of the disappeared individuals and to hold the Pakistani government accountable.

“End enforced disappearances. Hold Pakistan accountable,” Paank reiterated.

The human rights group emphasized that such incidents constitute crimes against humanity and demanded immediate global attention.
