Pakistan’s Hypocrisy at UN Threatens Global Stability, Says Baloch Pro-Independence Leader Hyrbyair Marri

London [UK], July 3 (ANI): Baloch pro-independence leader Hyrbyair Marri has denounced Pakistan’s assumption of the United Nations Security Council presidency for July, calling it “a profound affront to global human rights” and a dangerous blow to accountability.

In a statement posted on X, Marri criticized Pakistan’s permanent representative for claiming to promote diplomacy, peace, and stability while Islamabad continues to “export terrorism and jihad” abroad and practice “religious persecution at home.”

Marri accused Pakistan of decades of violence beyond its borders — including its involvement in Afghanistan, the 1971 genocide of millions of Bengalis, and the massacre of Palestinians during Black September in Jordan, when then-Brigadier Zia-ul-Haq allegedly ordered killings.

He also underscored what he called Pakistan’s ongoing atrocities in Balochistan since its forcible annexation in 1948, in violation of Article 2 of the UN Charter. According to Marri, Islamabad has “killed and disappeared hundreds of thousands of Baloch” and continues to use violence to suppress their demands for independence.

Citing historical betrayals, Marri recalled the 17-year imprisonment of Prince Abdul Kareem, brother of the Khan of Kalat, for seeking negotiations, and the hanging and deaths of Nawab Nauroz Khan’s sons after Pakistan swore on the Quran to honor safe talks — only to renege and “publicly desecrate it twice.”

“When the accused are handed the gavel, international credibility erodes,” Marri wrote, arguing that giving Pakistan the UNSC presidency damages the integrity of global institutions.

He described Pakistan as “an artificial, militarised state ruled by a Punjabi-dominated elite” that suppresses minority identities through enforced disappearances, torture, extrajudicial killings, and forced religious conversions.

Marri appealed to the UN and democratic nations worldwide to recognize Pakistan as a rogue state and to revoke its leadership role at the UNSC. “Your decision lends moral sanction to a regime steeped in terror and oppression. Accountability must never yield to privilege,” he said, urging justice for oppressed nations under Pakistani rule. (ANI)
