New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal on August 22 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 18,200 crore, the Prime Minister’s Office announced.

In Bihar, the Prime Minister will visit Gaya at around 11 am to inaugurate projects worth approximately Rs 13,000 crore. These include the 8.15 km long Aunta-Simaria bridge project on NH-31, featuring a 1.86 km six-lane bridge over the Ganga, constructed at a cost of over Rs 1,870 crore. The bridge will provide direct connectivity between Mokama in Patna and Begusarai, reducing travel distances for heavy vehicles by over 100 km and easing traffic congestion.

Other projects in Bihar include the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH-31 (Rs 1,900 crore), improvement of the Bikramganj-Dawath-Nawanagar-Dumraon section of NH-120, the Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660×1 MW) worth Rs 6,880 crore, and the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre at Muzaffarpur with advanced oncology facilities.

PM Modi will also inaugurate sewerage treatment plants and networks at Munger under Namami Gange (Rs 520 crore), along with laying foundation stones for urban infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,260 crore, including STP and water supply projects under AMRUT 2.0 in Aurangabad, Bodhgaya, Jehanabad, Barahiya, Lakhisarai, and Jamui.

Rail connectivity will be enhanced with the flagging off of the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi and the Buddhist Circuit Train between Vaishali and Koderma. Additionally, a Grih Pravesh ceremony under PMAY-Gramin and PMAY-Urban will benefit thousands of families.

In West Bengal, PM Modi will inaugurate metro services on newly constructed sections in Kolkata at around 4:15 pm, including a ride from Jessore Road Metro Station to Jai Hind Bimanbandar. He will also inaugurate a newly constructed subway at Howrah Metro Station. The metro projects, including the Noapara-Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Sealdah-Esplanade, and Beleghata-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay sections, aim to improve connectivity, reduce travel times, and strengthen multimodal transport for commuters.

Further enhancing road infrastructure, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the 7.2 km six-lane elevated Kona Expressway (Rs 1,200 crore), improving connectivity between Howrah, surrounding areas, and Kolkata, boosting trade, commerce, and tourism.

These initiatives reflect the government’s focus on world-class infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, and economic development in both states. (ANI)
