
Amritsar (Punjab) [India], October 21 (ANI): In a major intelligence-driven operation, Amritsar Rural Police, in coordination with central agencies, apprehended two terror operatives, identified as Mehakdeep Singh alias Mehak and Aditya alias Adhi. During the operation, authorities recovered a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) intended for a targeted terror attack.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were in contact with a Pakistan ISI operative who supplied the weapon and with Harpreet Singh alias Vicky, currently lodged in Ferozepur Jail. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Gharinda Police Station in Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to dismantle the entire terror network.
Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to neutralizing transnational terror and organized crime networks sponsored by Pakistan’s ISI to maintain peace and harmony in the state.
Earlier, on October 18, Punjab Police, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered a packet of heroin weighing 602 grams near Tindiwala village in Ferozepur. Another operation along the Amritsar border led to the recovery of 3.675 kg of ICE drugs from farmland near Bhaini Rajputana, reportedly dropped via drone. Additionally, BSF troops recovered a pistol wrapped in yellow adhesive tape from a field near Roranwala Khurd in Amritsar.
These consecutive recoveries highlight the vigilance and dedication of Punjab Police and BSF in safeguarding the state and nation from cross-border threats. (ANI)
