
April 25, 2025, Bandipora (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: A terrorist associate affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group was killed during an ongoing encounter in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Altaf Lalli, a member of the LeT outfit.
The exchange of fire took place in the Kulnar area of Ajas in Bandipora, where security forces had launched a joint search operation based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists. During the operation, two security personnel sustained gunshot wounds. They have been shifted to a nearby hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable.
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, which is part of the ongoing operation, confirmed that the firefight ensued after contact was established with the terrorists. “A joint search operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Kolnar Ajas area of Bandipora, following specific intelligence input. Contact was established, and a firefight ensued,” they said in an update on social media.
The operation remains active as security forces continue to search for remaining militants in the area.
This incident follows the tragic attack in Udhampur, where a security personnel succumbed to injuries sustained during a terrorist encounter on April 24. The security forces are on high alert following the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 people, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, fueling nationwide calls for tougher action against terrorism.
