Trump Administration to Share Intelligence with Ukraine for Strikes Deep Inside Russia: Report

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky meets US President Donald Trump in June 2025

New York [US] / Moscow [Russia], October 2 (ANI): The Trump administration is set to provide Ukraine with intelligence enabling missile strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported, citing unnamed sources. President Donald Trump has reportedly approved the transfer of targeting data to Kyiv as part of discussions over supplying advanced weaponry to Ukraine.

The agreement would allow the Pentagon and US intelligence agencies to assist Ukraine in pinpointing oil refineries, pipelines, and other infrastructure that generate revenues crucial for sustaining Russia’s war effort in Ukraine. NATO allies have also been asked to extend similar support, sources said.

The United States is additionally weighing the possibility of sending Tomahawk cruise missiles and Barracuda munitions to Ukraine, though no final decision has yet been reached. Tomahawk missiles, with a range of up to 1,500 miles, would place Moscow well within Ukraine’s striking capacity.

Russian officials have voiced strong objections. Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, stated on October 1 that Moscow would respond should the US supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, according to TASS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted earlier this week that discussions regarding Tomahawks were not concluded, while expressing confidence that their deployment would not alter the military balance, Russian state media reported.

According to the New York Post, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested Tomahawk missile supplies during a private meeting with Trump last week — a request that the US president reportedly appeared open to.

Trump recently described Russia as a “paper tiger,” citing new US intelligence suggesting that the Kremlin is heading toward economic collapse and battlefield defeat due to its invasion of Ukraine. For the first time, Trump expressed optimism that the Ukrainian military could “win all of Ukraine back in its original form,” the New York Post noted.
