Indian Army Responds Firmly to Continued Ceasefire Violations by Pakistan Across LoC

Unprovoked firing near LoC

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 2 (ANI): The Indian Army delivered a robust response to unprovoked small arms firing by Pakistan across multiple sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir during the night of May 1–2, according to official sources.

The ceasefire violations occurred in the Kupwara, Baramulla, and Poonch districts, as well as in the Naushera and Akhnoor sectors. The Army stated that Indian troops retaliated in a “calibrated and proportionate manner” to the unprovoked aggression by the Pakistan Army.

This marks the eighth consecutive day of retaliatory action by Indian forces since Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing across the LoC on the night of April 25–26. Previous incidents had also been reported in the Uri and Akhnoor sectors, with Indian forces maintaining a strong defensive posture.

Meanwhile, security has been significantly ramped up in Rajouri district and other vulnerable areas in Jammu and Kashmir following a recent terrorist attack. Joint search operations are underway in forested and border regions to root out militant presence. Checkpoints have been intensified along highways and key roads, with security personnel conducting comprehensive inspections of vehicles.

In a parallel diplomatic development, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) from India and Pakistan held talks via hotline earlier this week. Indian authorities reportedly issued a stern warning to Pakistan over continued ceasefire violations along both the LoC and the International Border.

As a further measure following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, India has moved to restrict Pakistani access to its airspace. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) confirmed the issuance of a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), effective from April 30 to May 23, closing Indian airspace to all aircraft registered in Pakistan or operated by Pakistani carriers — including military flights.

This decisive stance from both the military and civil aviation authorities underscores India’s commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity and civilian lives amid escalating tensions with Pakistan.
