Washington, DC [US], October 19 (ANI): India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, highlighted India’s artificial intelligence (AI) priorities and goals during a roundtable discussion titled “AI Sprinters: AI Works for Governments,” organized by the Atlantic Council.
In a post on X, Ambassador Kwatra stated, “Participated in a roundtable: ‘AI Sprinters: AI Works for Governments’ at @AtlanticCouncil.” He emphasized the Government of India’s key AI objectives under the India AI Mission, including development, diffusion, and adoption across the AI ecosystem and its verticals such as computing power, talent and skill training, infrastructure, data, use cases, and AI-driven solutions.
The Ambassador also briefed participants on the upcoming AI Impact Summit 2026, which will be hosted in India next February. Notably, this will be the first time the Summit is hosted by a Global South nation.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Summit will be guided by the principles—or Sutras—of People, Planet, and Progress. Discussions will revolve around seven thematic “Chakras”: Human Capital, Inclusion, Safe and Trusted AI, Resilience, Science, Democratizing AI Resources, and Social Good. These themes aim to showcase how AI can be a transformative force for citizens, communities, and the planet.
MeitY further noted that the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 will feature several flagship initiatives, including AI Pitch Fest (UDAAN), which will highlight innovative AI startups and high-potential ventures from India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions, with special recognition for women leaders and differently-abled changemakers. Other events include global innovation challenges for youth and women, a research symposium bringing together leading global researchers to present frontier AI work, and an AI Expo for Responsible Intelligence, featuring over 300 exhibitors from India and 30+ countries across 10 thematic pavilions.
