NEW DELHI, May 24 (ANI) — A 60-year-old security guard was allegedly run over twice by a four-wheeler and killed in Outer Delhi’s Peeragarhi village in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
According to police, a call regarding the fatal incident was received at the Paschim Vihar West police station at approximately 4:03 a.m.
After reaching the scene, officers found the victim lying unconscious. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was employed as a chowkidar, or security guard, at a local tempo stand.
Investigators discovered skid marks at the scene, prompting a detailed examination of CCTV footage from the area. The footage allegedly showed the victim being run over twice by a four-wheeler.
Police subsequently registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Paschim Vihar West police station.
The crime scene was examined by teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and local police authorities.
Police said multiple specialized teams, including units from the Paschim Vihar Sub-Division and the Outer District operations wing, have been assigned to investigate the case and apprehend those responsible.
Further investigation is underway.
In a separate development, the Delhi Police Crime Branch launched a crackdown on the illegal trade of banned Chinese manjha and arrested two accused, including a key supplier, during a raid in the Uttam Nagar area of West Delhi, officials said Sunday.
During the operation, police recovered approximately 2,040 rolls of prohibited synthetic kite string from the accused, making it one of the largest recent seizures linked to the hazardous material.
According to police officials, the accused were allegedly involved in the supply and distribution of Chinese manjha across multiple parts of the national capital. (ANI)
