
Michigan [US], July 27 (ANI): At least 11 people were injured in a stabbing incident at a Walmart near Traverse City, Michigan, on Saturday afternoon, The New York Times reported, citing Michigan State Police.
According to Megan Brown, Chief Communications Officer for Munson Healthcare, all 11 victims are being treated at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. While the hospital is still evaluating the extent of the injuries, specific details have not yet been disclosed.
Michigan State Police reported that a suspect was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m. local time. “Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a multiple stabbing incident at the Walmart in Traverse City. The suspect is in custody; details are limited at this time,” the police’s sixth district said in a post on X.
Authorities assured the public there is no ongoing threat. Grand Traverse 911 confirmed that emergency services are present at the scene and urged residents to avoid the Walmart and nearby businesses while the investigation is ongoing.
