
New Delhi [India], July 31 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around Rs 2,200 crore in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on August 2 at approximately 11 a.m., according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). He will also address the public during the event.
The wide-ranging projects span several sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage, with the goal of achieving holistic urban transformation, improved connectivity, and enhanced quality of life in Varanasi.
Reaffirming his commitment to enhancing road infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for key road development initiatives. These include the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi–Bhadohi Road, Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar Road, and the Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, aimed at easing traffic congestion on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura corridor.
Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for comprehensive road widening across several urban and rural corridors such as Dalmandi, Lahartara-Kotwa, Gangapur, Babatpur, and the Railway Overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard.
To strengthen the power infrastructure in the region, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for various initiatives under the Smart Distribution Project, including the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure valued at over Rs 880 crore.
In a major push to promote tourism, the Prime Minister will inaugurate redevelopment works at eight riverfront kuccha ghats, Kalika Dham, and the beautification of the pond and ghat at Rangildas Kutiya in Shivpur, as well as the restoration and purification of Durgakund. He will also lay the foundation stone for restoration efforts at Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, development works in Karkhiyaon (birthplace of several freedom fighters), and City Facility Centers in Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar Zones. The ancestral home of Munshi Premchand in Lamahi will be redeveloped and upgraded into a museum.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the development of an urban Miyawaki forest at Kanchanpur and for the redevelopment and beautification of Shaheed Udyan and 21 other parks. In addition, water purification and maintenance work at various culturally significant kunds—such as Ramkund, Mandakini, and Shankuldhara—will be launched, along with the installation of four floating pujan platforms.
To ensure clean drinking water access in rural areas, PM Modi will inaugurate 47 Rural Drinking Water Schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
As part of his vision to improve access to quality education, the Prime Minister will inaugurate upgraded infrastructure at 53 municipal school buildings and lay the foundation stone for new educational projects, including the construction of a district library and the rejuvenation of government high schools in Jakhini and Lalpur.
On the healthcare front, the Prime Minister will inaugurate advanced diagnostic equipment installations, such as robotic surgery and CT scan facilities, at the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre and the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital. He will also lay the foundation stone for a new Homoeopathic College and Hospital. Additional facilities include the inauguration of an Animal Birth Control Center and a Dog Care Center.
Promoting sports and public safety, PM Modi will inaugurate a synthetic hockey turf at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium and a 300-capacity multipurpose hall at the Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) in Ramnagar. He will also lay the foundation stone for new Quick Response Team (QRT) barracks.
In a significant step toward farmer welfare, PM Modi will release the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme. More than Rs 20,500 crore will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers nationwide. With this disbursement, the total amount released under the scheme since its inception will exceed Rs 3.90 lakh crore.
He will also inaugurate the registration portal for various events under the Kashi Sansad Pratiyogita, including sketching, painting, photography, sports, quiz competitions, and a Rojgar Mela.
Finally, the Prime Minister will distribute over 7,400 assistive aids to differently-abled and elderly beneficiaries.
