PM Modi inaugurates interim Terminal Building at Purnea Airport in Bihar

Purnea (Bihar) [India], September 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the Interim Terminal Building at the New Civil Enclave of Purnea Airport in Bihar. The event was attended by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, and Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary.

Later in the day, PM Modi is set to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development projects worth around Rs 36,000 crore across Purnea. He will also launch the National Makhana Board in Bihar, aimed at boosting production, introducing new technologies, enhancing post-harvest management, promoting value addition and processing, and supporting market, export, and brand development for Makhana. Bihar contributes approximately 90 per cent of India’s Makhana production, with key districts including Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Saharsa, Katihar, Purnea, Supaul, Kishanganj, and Araria. The Makhana Board is expected to strengthen the sector both locally and nationally.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation for the 3×800 MW thermal power project at Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, Bihar’s largest private sector investment worth Rs 25,000 crore. Utilizing ultra-super critical, low-emission technology, the project will enhance the state’s energy security with dedicated power supply.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Phase 1 of the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project, valued at over Rs 2,680 crore. The project focuses on canal desilting, reconstruction of damaged structures, renovation of the settling basin, and increasing discharge capacity from 15,000 to 20,000 cusecs. It is expected to benefit multiple districts in northeastern Bihar through improved irrigation, flood control, and agricultural resilience.

In line with efforts to improve rail connectivity, PM Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple rail projects and flag off new trains across the state. (ANI)
