Tehran, April 25 (ANI): Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei issued a strong warning to the United States, stating that incidents similar to “Isfahan and Tabas” could be repeated in the Persian Gulf if Washington does not end its naval blockade on Iran.
In a post on X, Mohseni-Ejei asserted that the US lacks the capability to sustain a blockade against Iran and warned of a firm response if pressure persists.
“Americans should know that they also lack the capability to impose a naval blockade on Iran; Isfahan and Tabas will be repeated once again in the waters of the Persian Gulf,” he said.
Referring to past and recent confrontations, he highlighted the symbolic significance of the Tabas incident, describing it as a “humiliating defeat” for US forces.
The reference points to Operation Eagle Claw, a failed US military operation on April 25, 1980, aimed at rescuing American hostages in Tehran. The mission collapsed in the Tabas Desert due to technical failures, including a collision between aircraft that resulted in the deaths of eight US servicemen.
Mohseni-Ejei also alluded to more recent military engagements, claiming that Iranian forces had successfully countered US-linked operations in Isfahan during the ongoing regional conflict.
The remarks come amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington over maritime activity in the Strait of Hormuz, where both sides have accused each other of aggressive actions, including ship interceptions and seizures.
Separately, reports indicate that a US F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down in Iran on April 3, 2026, marking the first loss of a crewed US aircraft in Iranian territory during the current conflict. The crew ejected safely, though one officer was injured and later rescued after being stranded for nearly 48 hours.
The latest exchange of warnings underscores the fragile security environment in the region, as tensions continue to rise over military and maritime operations. (ANI)
