New Delhi, April 28 (ANI): Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei is “in a good situation and fine,” his Deputy Representative in India, Dr. Mohammad Hossein Ziyaeenia, said Tuesday, dismissing rumors about his health.
“The situation of our Supreme Leader, Hazrat Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei, is, thanks to God, good. According to the communication that we had a couple of days ago, he is in a good situation, he’s fine,” Ziyaeenia said in an interview.
He rejected speculation regarding the leader’s health, calling such reports “not authentic.”
“All these rumors that his health is not in a good situation and he has some problems—these are not authentic, and he is fine,” he added.
Reiterating Iran’s position on the West Asia conflict, Ziyaeenia said Tehran maintains that it did not initiate the conflict with Israel and the United States and would determine how it ends.
“From the very beginning of the war, we stated the famous sentence from our late Supreme Leader Hazrat Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei: ‘Americans, the enemies, started this war, but we are the ones who will finish this war; we will decide how this war will finish,’” he said.
According to a report by The New York Times, Mojtaba Khamenei has largely remained out of public view since airstrikes on Feb. 28 targeted the compound where he was residing. The report said the attack resulted in the deaths of his wife and son and that access to him has since been restricted as he recovers from injuries.
Addressing questions on diplomatic efforts to end the conflict and the role of global powers such as Russia, China, and India, Ziyaeenia said all countries could play either a positive or negative role.
“Everyone is worried about the price of gas or oil, but no one is worried about the price of the lives of the people who are getting killed,” he said.
He also dismissed reports of internal divisions in Iran, asserting that the country’s political system does not depend on a single individual.
“The Iranian government system is not dependent on a single person because this is a republic,” he said, adding that the country has an established hierarchy of governance.
Ziyaeenia said claims of internal tensions are either based on a lack of understanding of Iran’s system or are attempts to mislead audiences.
Iran and the United States have been observing a fragile ceasefire since April 7 following the conflict that began on Feb. 28, which has disrupted global energy supplies. (ANI)
