TEL AVIV, February 22 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Israel as “historic,” emphasizing that the partnership between the two nations continues to reach new heights across innovation, security, and regional cooperation.

In a post on X ahead of the visit, Netanyahu referred to Modi as a “dear friend” and highlighted the growing strategic alignment between the two countries. He described the relationship as a “powerful alliance between two global leaders,” adding that both nations are working together on innovation, security, and a shared strategic vision.

“From AI to regional cooperation, our partnership continues to reach new heights,” Netanyahu said, expressing confidence in the strengthening bilateral ties.

Netanyahu confirmed that Modi will arrive in Israel on Wednesday and is scheduled to deliver an address at the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. The two leaders will also participate in an innovation event in Jerusalem and visit Yad Vashem, the country’s official Holocaust memorial.

Speaking at the opening of a Cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said the visit would further deepen the special relationship developed between India and Israel in recent years. He noted that both leaders share a close personal rapport, having visited each other’s countries and maintained regular communication.

He added that discussions during the visit would focus on expanding cooperation in economic, diplomatic, and security sectors, as well as strengthening collaboration in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

Netanyahu also outlined a broader vision of creating a network of strategic partnerships involving India, Arab nations, African countries, Mediterranean nations such as Greece and Cyprus, and select Asian partners. He said such cooperation would enhance regional stability and strengthen collective resilience.

Modi’s visit will mark his second trip to Israel, following his landmark 2017 visit, when he became the first Indian Prime Minister to travel to the country. Israeli officials said the upcoming visit reflects the continued expansion of bilateral relations and shared interests between the two nations across multiple sectors.
