New Delhi [India], May 11 (ANI): Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai on Sunday provided details regarding his conversation with his Pakistani counterpart, which led to the cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by both countries. He stated that Pakistan Army violated the understanding just a few hours after hostilities were halted.

According to Lt General Ghai, it was the Pakistan DGMO who proposed the cessation of hostilities. “My communication with the Pak DGMO took place at 15:35 hrs yesterday, leading to the cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions from both sides starting from 17:00 hrs on May 10, following his proposal to cease hostilities. We also agreed to have another conversation on May 12 at 12:00 hrs to discuss the modalities to sustain this understanding,” Ghai informed reporters during a press conference.

However, he noted that despite the agreement, Pakistan violated the terms within a few hours by resuming cross-border and Line of Control (LoC) firing, followed by drone intrusions last night and early today. “These violations were met with a robust response from India,” Ghai added.

The DGMO also mentioned that his Pakistani counterpart was notified about the violations today through a hotline message. India has made it clear that it will respond fiercely to any further violations, with the Chief of Army Staff granting full authority to the army commander for counteraction.

“We have earlier today sent another hotline message to my counterpart highlighting these violations of the May 10 agreement and our firm and clear intent to respond fiercely if repeated, whether tonight, subsequently, or later. The Chief of Army Staff has authorized our army commander to take counteraction if Pakistan violates the agreement,” Ghai stated.

He emphasized that India has been compelled into this situation but remains fully prepared to handle any developments. “We have been compelled to be in this situation, but as always, the armed forces of India are prepared to face any eventuality. My focus is on our actions, not on what Pakistan might do. We have a roadmap and a plan, and we will follow it diligently,” Ghai concluded. (ANI)
