Tel Aviv [Israel], July 7 (ANI/TPS): Israeli authorities have completed their investigation of a Tel Aviv resident suspected of carrying out surveillance missions on behalf of Iran, including photographing the homes of elected officials and military installations, the Israel Police and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced Monday.
The 27-year-old suspect allegedly maintained contact with an Iranian handler for several months, during which he filmed sensitive locations, including military bases and the residences of public officials, and sprayed political graffiti as directed.
Investigators said he was paid thousands of dollars in virtual currencies for his activities.
The suspect’s home was raided on June 22, and police seized computer equipment and digital media believed to have been used to communicate with his Iranian contacts.
The Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court extended his detention, and prosecutors are expected to file formal charges in the coming days. (ANI/TPS)
