Washington [US], June 24 (ANI): US President Donald Trump sharply criticized both Israel and Iran for breaching the ceasefire he announced earlier in the day, stating that the two nations have been at war for so long that they “don’t know what the f*** they’re doing anymore.”
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump issued multiple posts expressing frustration over the fragile truce. In one post, he warned Israel directly: “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!” He added that Israeli planes would return to base, performing a “friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran,” declaring, “Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!”
Addressing reporters shortly afterward, Trump confirmed that US B-2 bombers had struck Iranian nuclear sites under “Operation Midnight Hammer” and claimed those sites were now irreparable. “Iran will never be able to rebuild its nuclear facilities. That place is under rock. That place is demolished. The B2 pilots did their job better than anybody could have imagined,” he said.
However, Trump did not spare Israel from criticism. “They (Iran) violated, but Israel violated it too. As soon as we made the deal, Israel came out and dropped a load of bombs… We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing,” he said.
Earlier, Trump had declared a “complete and total ceasefire” between Israel and Iran after a 12-day conflict that began on June 13 with Israel’s large-scale strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites under “Operation Rising Lion.” In retaliation, Iran launched “Operation True Promise 3,” a wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli energy infrastructure.
The conflict further escalated when the US carried out precision airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. In response, Iran launched missile attacks on US military installations in Qatar and Iraq, including the Al Udeid Air Base—America’s largest base in the region.
Despite the ceasefire agreement, tensions flared up shortly after. The Times of Israel reported that Iran fired missiles into the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, killing four people and injuring several others. Israel responded with a limited strike on a radar site near Tehran. According to reports, the Israeli military had originally planned a more extensive response, but this was scaled down following a phone call between President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During the call, Trump reportedly convinced Netanyahu to conduct a “symbolic” strike to avoid further escalation. “Do not drop those bombs. If you do it is a major violation. Bring your pilots home, now,” Trump posted on Truth Social as the situation unfolded.
The ceasefire agreement was brokered with assistance from Qatar. According to Reuters, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani played a pivotal role in securing Tehran’s acceptance of the US proposal after speaking with Iranian officials. This followed a separate conversation between Trump and Qatar’s Emir.
Trump laid out a phased ceasefire timeline in one of his social media posts: “Iran will start the ceasefire and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the ceasefire and, upon the 24th Hour, an official end to the 12-Day War.”
Though the ceasefire remains technically in effect, continued violations have cast doubt over its longevity. The volatile situation underscores the region’s fragile peace and the enormous geopolitical risks of renewed conflict between the two long-time adversaries. (ANI)
