New Delhi, April 29 (ANI): Dr. Mohammad Hossein Ziyaeenia, Deputy Representative of the Office of the Supreme Leader of Iran in India, has strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to target Iran’s infrastructure, calling them a violation of international law and alleging that the United Nations and other global bodies have remained silent.
In an interview with ANI, Ziyaeenia said no country had objected to Trump’s remarks despite their serious implications. He also raised concerns over the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28, the day hostilities began between Iran and Israel and the United States.
“This is the first time that an official from a country is clearly stating that he wants to break every international law in this war and no one is objecting,” Ziyaeenia said. “The UN is silent, and there is silence from international organizations.”
He questioned why global institutions had not responded to such statements and argued that the lack of reaction emboldens further escalation.
The remarks come amid a tenuous ceasefire between the United States and Iran, announced on April 7 and later extended. Initial talks between the two sides in Islamabad did not produce a breakthrough.
Earlier this month, Trump warned of large-scale military action if Iran failed to agree to a peace deal. In an interview with Axios, he said, “There is a good chance, but if they don’t make a deal, I am blowing up everything over there,” while indicating that negotiations were ongoing.
In a separate social media post, Trump issued a sharp warning to Tehran, threatening to target critical infrastructure if demands were not met.
Responding to the threats, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Tehran would respond “in kind” to any attack on its infrastructure, according to Al Jazeera.
Ziyaeenia defended Iran’s military actions, including strikes on U.S. bases in the region, describing them as acts of self-defense.
“Iran is targeting the invaders of its territory,” he said, arguing that U.S. military bases surrounding Iran pose a direct threat.
He also dismissed reports regarding the health of Iran’s current Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, stating that he is “in a good situation and fine,” and rejecting speculation about his condition.
Reiterating Iran’s stance on the ongoing conflict, Ziyaeenia said the country did not initiate hostilities and would determine how the war concludes.
“From the very beginning of the war, we stated that the enemies started this war, but we are the ones who will finish it,” he said. (ANI)
