Delhi Metro introduces priority frisking for special category passengers

Published: June 1, 2025 | Updated: June 1, 2025 2 minutes read
Priority Frisking

New Delhi [India], June 1 (ANI): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has launched a Priority Frisking initiative at all metro stations to improve the travel experience for special category passengers. This includes specially-abled individuals, pregnant women, women with infants, senior citizens, and people with injuries, DMRC said in a post on X.

The initiative aims to provide a smooth and hassle-free security check process for these passengers. In cases of doubt or disputes regarding eligibility, security personnel may request relevant documents for verification. DMRC is working closely with CISF to implement this measure and issue guidelines ensuring seamless access for special category travelers.

DMRC has consistently prioritized accessibility by offering services like reserved seating and facilities such as tactile paths and wheelchairs across its premises to enhance commuter convenience.

With this step, DMRC reinforces its commitment to social responsibility and sets an example for public transportation systems nationwide. Last month, DMRC, in collaboration with the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), organized a three-day training program on “Advanced Metro Operations and Maintenance” at the DMRC Academy, Shastri Park, Delhi.

The program featured international and national experts sharing knowledge on metro operations, focusing on transformative technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, IoT, and Machine Learning. It aimed to equip metro professionals with advanced tools and skills to boost innovation, safety, and efficiency in urban rail systems.

The training was inaugurated by Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, along with Mr. Manuj Singhal, Director Infrastructure, and Ms. Rupa Nandy, Head of UITP India. Dr. Kumar said, “Our collaboration with UITP reflects DMRC’s ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in metro rail operations. This training program will empower participants with the latest global insights, helping shape the future of sustainable and intelligent urban mobility.” (ANI)
