“Guns-a-blazing”: Trump warns Nigeria of aid cut, threatens military action

US President Donald Trump on Nigeria

Washington DC [US], November 2 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump has warned that the US could halt all aid and assistance to Nigeria if the country fails to curb the ongoing killings of Christians.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump cautioned that the US might go in “guns-a-blazing” should the violence against Christians by Islamic terrorists continue.

Trump stated, “If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the USA will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”

He said he had instructed the Department of War to prepare for possible action, warning that any US military response would be “fast, vicious, and sweet,” and urged the Nigerian government to “move fast.”

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!” Trump wrote.

The warning of potential military action came after Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu pushed back against Trump, who on Friday declared Nigeria a “country of particular concern” for allegedly failing to stop the persecution of Christians, The Washington Post reported.

Nigerian authorities have denied accusations of systematic targeting of Christians. Information Minister Mohammed Idris told Fox News that reports of mass persecution were “very misleading,” rejecting claims that tens of thousands had been killed.

Trump said he designated Nigeria a “country of particular concern” because Christianity there faces an “existential threat,” citing ongoing violence between Muslim and Christian communities.

Blaming “radical Islamists” for the killings of Christian minorities, Trump directed two lawmakers—Congressman Riley Moore and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole—to investigate the situation.

“I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter and report back to me,” he said.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN.’ But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, are slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 worldwide), something must be done!” Trump added in his post. (ANI)
