OSLO, Norway, May 19 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership has been institutionalized as a key pillar of India-Nordic relations.
Speaking after the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo, Modi said the initiative would combine the technological expertise of Nordic countries with India’s skilled workforce to support sustainable development and innovation.
“With this Green Technology Partnership, we will connect Iceland’s expertise in geothermal and fisheries, Norway’s expertise in blue economy and Arctic, and all Nordic countries’ expertise in maritime and sustainability to India’s skills to ensure a better future for the entire world,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister also outlined cooperation in advanced manufacturing, digital technology, cybersecurity, defense, and healthcare.
He said Sweden’s expertise in advanced manufacturing and defense, Finland’s strengths in telecom and digital technology, and Denmark’s capabilities in cybersecurity and health technology would be linked with India’s talent base to develop trusted global solutions.
The summit brought together leaders from the five Nordic countries, including Kristrun Frostadottir, Jonas Gahr Støre, Ulf Kristersson, Petteri Orpo, and Mette Frederiksen.
The discussions focused on strengthening economic ties, resilient supply chains, green growth, and innovation partnerships between India and Nordic nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit is expected to boost bilateral trade and investment while advancing cooperation under the India-EU Free Trade Agreement discussions and the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement involving Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Norway marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years and forms part of his broader five-nation tour that includes the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy.
